1. GPL Acknowledgement & Asset Licensing

Arborea consists of two primary components:

• Addon Code (Python scripts):

The Arborea addon code is developed as a Blender addon and is therefore distributed under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL v3).

Under the GPL, the Licensee has the right to access, modify, and redistribute the addon code in accordance with GPL terms.

Nothing in this Agreement is intended to restrict, override, or remove any rights granted under the GPL.

• Assets (3D models, textures, materials, HDRIs, and other creative content):

All assets included with Arborea are the intellectual property of the Licensor and are distributed under a separate proprietary license.

Assets are licensed for use in the Licensee’s projects (commercial or non-commercial) but may not be redistributed, resold, sublicensed, or repackaged in any form.

The GPL does not apply to these assets, and they remain fully protected by copyright law.

2. Commercial License Grant

In addition to the rights granted under the GNU GPL v3 for the addon code, the Licensor grants the Licensee the following commercial terms:

• Seat Licenses

The Software may be installed and used on up to the number of seats purchased under the applicable license tier (Single, Team, Studio, or Enterprise expansions).

For the purposes of this Agreement, a seat is defined as one user or one workstation installation.

• Commercial Use

The Licensee is permitted to use the addon and included assets in both commercial and non-commercial projects.

Assets may be incorporated into derivative works such as renders, animations, films, or games which may be sold, published, or otherwise monetized.

The Licensee does not acquire ownership of the Assets themselves, and redistribution of the Assets in raw or repackaged form is strictly prohibited.

• Internal Use (for Team/Studio Licenses)

For Team, Studio, and Enterprise licenses, the Software and Assets are licensed solely for use within the Licensee’s organization by its employees and contractors.

The Licensee may not sublicense, rent, or otherwise provide the Software or Assets to third parties outside its organization.

This restriction does not apply to single-user licenses, which are intended for individual use.

• Redistribution of Code

Redistribution of the addon code is permitted under GPL v3.

Redistribution of Arborea under GPL does not entitle recipients to access support, updates, or warranties, which are provided exclusively to Licensees under this Agreement.

Redistribution of proprietary Assets (3D models, textures, HDRIs, and other creative content) is not permitted under any circumstances.

3. License Tiers

The Software is offered under the following license tiers:

• Single License

Permits installation and use on 1 seat (one user or one workstation).

Intended for individual artists, freelancers, or hobbyists.

Not subject to the “Internal Use” restriction in Section 2.3.

• Team License

Permits installation and use on up to 6 seats within the same organization.

Licensed for use by the Licensee’s employees and contractors only.

Seats may not be transferred or shared with external parties.

• Studio License

Permits installation and use on up to 12 seats within the same organization.

Licensed for use by the Licensee’s employees and contractors only.

Seats may not be transferred or shared with external parties.

• Seat Expansion

Additional seats may be purchased beyond the Studio License.

Expansions may be licensed per-seat or in blocks of six seats at discounted rates.

All expansion seats are subject to the same terms as the Studio License.

4. Updates and Support

• Support Services

Licensor will provide reasonable technical support to Licensee as a benefit of purchasing a valid license.

Support includes assistance with installation, troubleshooting, and general use of the Software.

Support does not include training, customization, integration into third-party tools, or issues arising from unauthorized modifications.

• Software Updates

Licensee will receive updates, improvements, and bug fixes to Arborea as they are released.

Updates are provided as downloadable files through the Licensor’s designated distribution channels.

Licensor does not guarantee updates indefinitely. Updates will be made available as part of Arborea’s ongoing development cycle, for as long as the product is actively maintained.

• Eligibility

Updates and support are available only to Licensees holding valid purchased seats under this Agreement.

If the addon is redistributed under GPL, recipients are not entitled to official updates or support from the Licensor

5. Restrictions

Except as permitted under the GNU GPL v3 for the addon code, the Licensee may not:

• Resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or otherwise provide the Addon or Assets, in whole or in part, to any third party.

• Redistribute, resell, or repackage any proprietary Assets (3D models, textures, HDRIs, materials, or other creative content) included with Arborea, whether in original or modified form.

• Distribute versions of the Software that include access to Licensor’s support or updates. These benefits are available only to Licensees with valid purchased seats.

• Claim ownership of Arborea, its code, or its Assets.

• Represent Arborea as an internal tool developed by the Licensee or misrepresent the source of the addon.

• Incorporate Arborea or its Assets into other addons, plugins, or asset packs for resale or free distribution.

• Derivative works of the addon code may be distributed only under GPL terms and may not include Arborea’s proprietary Assets.

6. Ownership

Licensor retains all ownership and intellectual property rights to Arborea, except for rights expressly granted under GPL.

7. Warranty Disclaimer

The Software is provided “AS IS,” under GPL, with no warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

Licensor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Software.

Total liability shall not exceed the license fees paid by Licensee under this Agreement.

9. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The parties agree that the state and federal courts located in Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising under this Agreement.

10. Entire Agreement

This Agreement supplements, but does not replace, the GNU GPL v3 license. In the event of conflict, GPL governs use of the Software code, while this Agreement governs support, updates, and seat licensing.
